- START GR 974211 Car Park & Picnic area off A513 (Mitford Common)
- Go through the barrier from the car park to join a track leading to a Nursing Home. Turn left past a pond (975207) and keep on this track steeply up Oak Hill, then down to a junction with the Staffordshire Way (981202)
- Turn right for 300m then left at the pond for 1km to a gravel road. Turn left past the car park and stay on the track for 450m until a single-track right. Follow this down into the Sherbrook Valley to join a broader track. (987193)
- Turn right parallel with the river . After 650m ignore the track right and continue to a second junction. Turn right, forking right just after to climb to a road junction at (978184). Ignore the road turning sharp left then immediately right past a trig-point to a fork at (982178).
- Fork left and descend back to the valley. Follow the main track for 1.5km past a junction. Where the track bends right fork left onto a single-track. After 200m turn left onto another single-tack to a White House (104162)
- Follow the road NE for 880m. Where it bends right go straight on. At a junction beside the range turn left along Pepper Slade. Just before the river turn right onto a good track up the valley and follow this to a junction at (990196). Take the main track right and follow it gradually trending right to meet Marquis drive just by a large earth bank. Turn left just after this and keep straight on at a x-roads to a second one. Keep straight on and climb up. At the top turn left then left again back to the valley.
- Turn right along a twisty track. At a major junction turn right, cross the stream, then turn right to a car park at Beggars Hill. (004205) Turn sharp left round a barrier and climb steadily before descending to a stream at (987202). Keep right to meet the Staffordshire Way at (981202) then retrace leg 1 to the car park.
OS Landranger Maps 127 & 128, but it is better to use OS Explorer 6.
Navigation needs care but some excellent twisty single-track combined with faster sections
