OS Map 43: Braemar & Blair Atholl.
A scenic route. Mainly on estate tracks. Most climbing comes in the first 7 km
- START: Blair Atholl (Glen Tilt Car Park GR 874663
- Leave the car park and cycle up the road (west) until you reach the access road to Glen Tilt. Ignore the first of these and take the second (they join at the bridge).
- Follow the track until it reaches the bridge.
- Cross the stream and follow the track up through the woods towards a stile and open moorland.
- The track now meanders across open moorland with more ups than downs past Meall Tionail Bothy
- From here the track continues straight on, but is indistinct and heathery in places. Keep going until Bruar Lodge.
- Cross the bridge here and begin the return journey down the other side of the valley
- After the Cuiltemhuc bothy turn onto grassy track, ford river and climb up to edge of wood.
- Follow the track down to the access path to the Bruar Falls, turn left and continue to the stile.
- After the stile turn sharp right then descend to the minor road back to car park
