- START GR587117 Car Park on A84 opposite the entrance to the Forest. This car park is often full in summer, there are other parks at (585107) and (586092) across the bridge.
- Head North along the forestry road with two steep sections. After the forest the track is boggy in sections involving some pushing, but much of it is downhill. Follow Glen Ample to the Farm. Turn left and head for the footbridge. Cross the stream and turn right to follow the left bank all the way to a monor road at (602225)
- Turn left and descend to the A84. Follow the A84 left for 3km as far as the Kingshouse Hotel then turn right to Balquhidder (535208)
- Turn left in Balquhidder towards Strathyre and fllow the road along the line of the River Balvag into Strathyre. (558173)
- Where the road turns to cross the bridgea marked cycleway (part of National Route 7) continues straight on. Follow this all the way along the side of Loch Lubnaig to a barrier at (586092). Go through the barrier and turn left over the bridge to join the A84.
- Turn left and follow the A84 for 2.5km back to the start
