A lot of road on this route, but scenic and worth the effort.

Tour of Derwentwater
- START: GR 252 Portinscale. Small car park at end of footbridge over river Derwent
- Follow minor road past Derwent Marina to Swinside. Just before the pub, turn left for Catbells. Swoop down and up a short sharp hill to a T junction at the end of the Catbells spur.
- Turn left here and quickly leave the road up a track climbing up from the road from the right. Wonderful views over Derwentwater from the top.
- Follow this track in two sections as far as you can until it rejoins the road at Manesty
- Follow the road to Grange (Ice creams at the coffee shop)
- Cross the bridge at Grange and join the B5269 which you can follow to Keswick (As you approach the town, there is a cycle track on the left hand side of the road)
- Cycle straight through Keswick and follow the main road North East. After 1 km track to the left leads to the Portinscale footbridge. Cross this to your waiting car.
