- START GR329051 Car Park North of Elterwater
- Turn right out of the car park for 150m then turn sharp right and follow road past High Close YH to a junction at (340055). 200m after this fork right onto a bridleway. Follow it contouring round (fine views) then descending alongside Rydal Water to join a track at (359060)
- Follow the track to a bridge over the River Rothay. Instead of crossing the bridge turn right along a tarmac lane and follow it for nearly 2km to (371045) where a tarmac drive leads up to Brow Head Farm..
- Follow this up to the farm.. Keep left of the farm buildings then swing right and left after 200m. Cross open fellside to a wall junction (358044) and keep straight on, contouring round Ivy Crag and down a walled track to Tarn Foot.
- Join a minor road, turn right and immediately left to join the A593 at Skelwith Bridge. Follow the A593 for 1.6km and take a right turn (332028) dropping down to the river and forking left to Little Langdale
- 200m after the Chapel at (313035) turn right up a track. After about 1km turn left at a gate and climb up through trees. After the top descend past one track to another forestry track at (322046)
- Turn left here and continue for 2km to Oak Howe (308058) At Oak Howe keep straight on on a track which goes along the bank of Langdale Beck, past the camp-
site to a bridge across to Chapel Stile. (317054) - Follow the Road back to Elterwater and the start.
