- START GR327047 Elterwater Car Park
- Turn right out of the car park for 150m to the main B5343 and follow this for 2km through Chapel Stile. At (312062) a bridleway goes left down over a bridge crossing Langdale Beck. Bear right and climb to Oak Howe. Take the left fork at the buildings and bear left again shortly after to follow the valley past Baysbrown Farm to a track junction at (322045)
- Turn sharp right up a forest ridethen fork left onto a signed bridleway. Climb steeply then descend to reach a wide track at (321041) Turn right to a T-
junction then left to Little Langdale.(316034) - Turn right at the phone box down to a ford. Turn left after the ford to Stang End (318028) . Turn right towards Hodge Close for 1km and at the buildings turn right through a gate onto the track leading to Oxen Fell Farm. Keep straight on at the farm to reach the A593 at (328017)
- Go straight across on the Cumbria Way climbing steeply and bearing left to a plantation. After a further 200m turn left along a signed bridleway through the plantation and across open ground to a house at Lower Arnside (334019). 100m after this fork right down a faint grassy track and descend back to the A593)
- Turn left for 500m then take the first right and follow the road, keeping right at every junction, back to the start.
