OS Landranger Map 124: Porthmadog & Dolgellau
Lovely scenery with fine Estuary & Mountain Views.
Families can reverse the estuary section in order to avoid the steep tarmac climb
- START GR 728180 Car Park in Dolgellau
- From the north corner of the car park go down the ramp to join the Mawwdach Trail. Follow the trail for 1km before crossing the river by the Doctor Williams Bridge. Take the ramp to the left along the north bank of the river as far as the A493 at (715183)
- Cross the A road and go through the car park and over the cantilevered bridge. Follow the old railway track clearly marked to the estuary edge and all the way to a car park at (640148)
- Turn left up a tarmac road. At the A493 turn left and next right up a very steep minor road to a T-junction at (647133). Phew!. Most of the climbing is now over.
- Turn left and follow the road as it undulates, keeping right at every junction to reach another T-junction at (714167)
- Turn left and cycle easily down into Dolgellau, keeping left past the church to the car park.
