- START GR 218183 Car Park in Crickhowell
- Turn left from the car park and turn right at the main road. Turn first left towards Llanbedr. Keep heading north to a 3-
way fork at (235223). Take the middle route and stay on this lane to the Hermitage (228252) - Bear slightly left up a stony track then along the edge of a field. Before descending to cross the stream at a bridge. Keep straight on from here, climbing steadily to a saddle and junction of tracks at (204287)
- Ignore the ridge track sharp left, and take the next left descending steeply to a sharp bend well above a stream (203272). Go parallel to the stream and descend steeply to a narrow lane. Turn right along this for 300m and then sharp left along the road to a x-
roads. Go straight over to meet the A479 at (184260) - Turn right for 300m then left up a lane. Take the first fork left up a steep hill. The road bears sharp left after 900m. Fork right past the top of the wood to a gate then turn left and climb steeply to a saddle. Keep straight on here to a major track junction (161261)
- Turn left and follow the main track keeping straight on at each fork before finally descending steeply to Bwich (150222).
- Turn right to the A40, then left to a sharp bend at (150212). Keep straight on along the B4560 to a junction with B4558. Turn left and follow this for 6.5km to the A4077. Turn left over the bridge to return to Crickhowell.
