- START GR 035869 Sett Valley Trail Car Park.
- Follow the trail W for 6000m then turn right over the river to meet the Thornsett Road at (031874). Turn left and climb for 300m then turn right onto a track leading to Little Hayfield. Bear right through the village to meet the A624
- Follow the A624 to Carr Meadow Farm and turn right through a gate onto a bridleway (035894) next to a lay-
by. Bear right across a footbridge then steep and loose to a wall. The track goes straight on here (can be muddy) - Some restoration work has been in progress, but may be completed now. Keep going past a track from the right to a signpost at (051882). The path to Kinder Scout goes off left, but bear right and enjoy a steep and technically difficult descent. The track joins a walled bridleway made awkward by slippery cobbles and water channels which leads to a gate and the access road to the reservoir (052880)
- Cross the river opposite and climb up to the road. Go through the gate into a field and follow the telegraph poles . Keep to the top of the ridge until it flattens (soft & muddy) then continue until a wall leads to a gate and stile and a signpost for Broad Clough (066867)
- Turn right between two walls until a sharp right leads to a wooden gate. Keep straight on then begin to descend. Ignore a wide track left and bear right to a gate in a wall and a signpost (Glossop)
- Go through the gate to join the bridleway from Edale and turn right through a gate and straight on through another gate onto a tarmac road (057859)
- At two gates, take the left one through Ashes Farm through double gates and climb up at first before enjoying a rollicking descent to the river at (050870)
- Cross the river bridge into Kinder road and turn left back into Hayfield and the finish.
