- START GR 896406 Car Park at Dunkery Gate
- Go up the hill from the car park and take the second track to the left. This climbs steadily on good terrain up to the cairn at the top of Dunkery Hill (892416).
- Turn right, cross the road after 1.6km and carry on descending steadily to woods at (925429). Straight on down forking left to meet the road at (928432)
- Take the left fork towards Wootton Courtney. Just after the hotel turn left onto Roadway Lane and follow the bridleway to a trig-point on Wootton Common (948443). Turn left. There are many forks, but keep to the main trail to meet the A39 at (935459)
- Cross the A-road onto a minor road and follow it, forking right round the plantation. Turn left to reach a junction at (927466). Turn right and climb steadily to reach a minor road at (925477)
- Turn left on the road and as it bends left go straight on up to the top of Salworthy Beacon. Continue for 200m to meet the South West Coast Path. Follow this westwards forking left to descend. Just after the descent begins it zig-zags left-right before dropping steeply through the trees onto a narrow lane to meet the road at (901477)
- Follow the road to meet the A39. Turn right for 300m then left onto a bridleway. Follow bridleway over footbridge and to road at West Luccombe (899461). Turn left along the road. After 700m where the road bends left go staight on, cross the bridge and join a track following the river to a footbridge at (888438)
- Cross the river and climb/carry steeply up through the trees to emerge at a field. Continue to Stoke Pero church. Turn left round the church and follow the road to a T-junction at (884430)
- Turn left for 3km. At high point of road turn sharp left and follow the bridleway along the rodge back to the top of Dunkery Beakon. Turn right and retrace steps to the road and car park.
