- START GR 659925 Car Park on Bransdale Road
- Turn right out of the car park, and at the bend in the road head straight on up Westside Road (track). Climb steadily for nearly 3km. Continue to a cross-
roads at (641975). Keep straight on for 4km to a dip (250m ahead is a gate at Bloworth Crossing) Just before the lowest point in the dip is a bridleway to the right signposted Farndale. Take this narrow track steeply down across fields to cross the River Dove at 629009) Go through a gate keeping close to the stream to join a stony track leading to Elm House (642004). Continue onto Daleside Road and follow this for 4.5km to Church Houses (669975) - Turn left and immediately left again (signposted Castleton) and climb very steeply upto a T-
junction on Blakey Ridge (Phew) (683989) - Turn right and follow Blakey Road for 7km to a junction with a track at (693925) near Thorne Stone Cross. (If you go to far you will next see Dale End Road coming in from the right. Take this for 250m to rejoin the route) Fork right crossing over Dale End Road and descending steadily to meet Lowna Road at (688909)
- Turn right across Lowna Bridge and climb up past a car park and a junction right to a farm track to the right just after a bend. Follow the track past the farm and through fields (bumpy) At the second wall turn left to meet the road at (668912). Turn right and follow the road back to the start.
