- START GR652074 Car Park Near Baysland Beck Waterfall
- Turn right out of the car park climbing up to a fork. Take the right fork for 400m to a bridleway sign to the right. Follow the track across the moors. Cross one stream, and arrive at a bridge over Great Hoggarth Beck. (636067)
- Climb steeply up the other side and where the track swings left bear right across a grassy strip heading for the cairn . From the cairn head down through the wall to the forestry edge. Turn left and follow the plantation edge for 500m to a gate (626061)
- Turn left and follow the track up across the moor. At the high point a new track leads off to the right and downhill to Armouth Wath (620034) . Continue for 600m on “The Flagged Road” to a junction (cairn & grouse butt 5). Turn left and climb up to the top of Burton Howe then 50m on to the Cleveland Way
- Turn right and follow the Cleveland Way for 4km to a sharp bend in a minor road (610070). Turn right and follow the road through Baysdale Farm down to Baysdale Abbey. Go into the farmyard (marked private road) bear left and cross the bridge, turn left again and go straight along parallel to the stream through three gates to a barn at (626075). Go straight on through another gate, cross the bridge and climb up through fields to another barn at (633077)
- Head North up the hill to a wall. Turn right following the wall to a bridleway sign. Continue parallel to Bysdale Beck for 1.6km to reach tarmac at (651077)
- Turn right and ride easily down to the start.
