- START GR 811694 Picnic Site near Helwith Bridge
- Turn right for 300m to the B6479 and follow it for 5.8km through Horton. 2km after passing under the railway bridge a drive and bridleway goes off left (787746). Follow the drive, forking right onto a track after 200m. After 450m more turn left and climb up to a plateau, passing through several gates. Contour between limestone outcrops to a signed junction of paths. (777735)
- Keep straight on through a gate and alongside a wall. At a fork, aim for the cairn ahead keeping straight on to the top of Long Scar. Trend right to descend into Trow Gill (758717) going through two gates to join Long Lane, a walled Lane and good descent.
- Arrive at T-
junction and turn left along Thwaite Lane. Cross one tarmac road to another at a T- junction (774691) Turn left and follow the minor road all the way back to the start.
